“Practice What You Preach”: How to implement and maintain impactful DEI programs and better protect your initiatives from litigation risks.

In part one, participants will explore pitfalls that could hinder a company’s DEI initiatives or subject the company to certain litigation risks. Participants will learn practical HR and DEI lessons through a legal analysis of the Duvall v. Novant Health, Inc. case where the jury awarded former senior executive $10 million for his “reverse discrimination” claim. Participants will learn HR’s role in DEI and why full integration a company’s HR program and DEI initiatives is essential.

In part two, participants will explore the best DEI practices for

  • Building and promoting inclusiveness in the workplace;
  • Overcoming pandemic workplace challenges and using those challenges as an opportunity for DEI adjustments throughout the company;
  • Monitoring the DEI program and making necessary adjustments so that ideals are attained and maintained; and
  • Improving objectiveness in decision-making and removing workplace bias in the company’s hiring, retaining, and promoting efforts.
