2025 President’s New Year Message
2025 is upon us and I have been reflecting on how I want to serve my term as President of North Texas Society of Human Resource Management (NTXSHRM). Since 2020, we have been through a lot and there are more changes ahead.
I recently read an article that there are fifty new laws that went into effect on January 1, 2025. Do you know what they are? Do any of them affect your company? How will you keep up with the ever-changing legal landscape? How can you incorporate AI into your work? Are you prepared for the huge number of baby boomers who will be retiring in the next five years? How will you recruit, engage, and retain employees? Do you know what benefits employees are looking for? How can you better work with and engage your C-Suite?
I believe North Texas SHRM is an excellent resource to answer these questions and help you stay on the top of your game. Our mission is to network, educate, advance, and transform your role as an HR professional. In 2025, my hope for you is that you will make a sincere commitment to attend NTXSHRM events and kickstart or continue your growth through our educational events, expand your circle of influencers at our networking events, and get involved in our community.
While we must focus on the “things” required of us, we also need to slow down. We need to take time for joy, to build relationships, and to celebrate and enjoy moments of success throughout the year. We want to know about those special moments in your life – birthdays, weddings, promotions, change jobs, earn your HR certification, etc. - so we can celebrate with you.
To keep us focused on what matters this year, we will be recognizing members at our luncheons and giving out awards during the Holiday Gala. Be looking for more information to come.
In anticipation of joy and celebrations in 2025, yours humbly,
Shirley Krueger, SHRM-SCP
President, NTXSHRM
2024 President's End of Year Review I am both honored and grateful to work alongside our dedicated volunteers and serve our exceptional members. This year, we have seen significant strides in increasing volunteer involvement with new board members, committees, and other areas of support. Our chapter continues to experience remarkable growth, maintaining its commitment to meeting the evolving needs of our members. We have achieved an 80% increase in membership, positioning us as one of the fastest-growing chapters in Texas. Our monthly educational luncheons have seen a 23.7% increase in average attendance compared to 2023, highlighting our ongoing commitment to providing valuable educational and networking opportunities that support your professional growth. We continue to maintain positive relations with our affiliated student chapters at the University of North Texas and Texas Woman’s University. We experienced an increase in student participation at our monthly meeting with 24 students attending in 2024. We were also able to award two $1,000 scholarships to students pursuing degrees in human resource management. In partnership with United Way, we facilitated job skills training workshops that focused on resume writing, interview preparation, and professional branding to assist 38 job seekers in advancing their careers. Financially, the chapter has experienced an 8.5% increase in revenue, while maintaining consistent cash reserves from 2023. Through our fundraising efforts, we proudly contributed $1,381.00 to the SHRM Foundation, our largest donation to date. For members working towards SHRM Certification, we offered study groups, scholarship opportunities, and announced NCTC prep courses to support your success. As part of our ongoing efforts to better serve your needs, we have refined our feedback processes by updating surveys to capture real-time event input, developed a data dashboard for easier analysis, and streamlined our technology to reduce redundancy. Looking ahead to 2025, we remain committed to our mission of supporting HR professionals and business partners through networking, education, and career advancement. I wish you all a joyful holiday season, and we look forward to an exciting and prosperous year ahead. Dwayne Clarke - MBA, SHRM-CP North Texas SHRM President |
