North Texas SHRM Call for Speakers

North Texas SHRM accepts proposals from Speakers who wish to present at our Annual Conference, Legal Half-Hour, or Monthly Education Luncheon through the forms linked below. 


LEGAL HALF-HOUR & LUNCHEONS

Our monthly Legal Half-Hour & Luncheons are generally held on the 3rd Thursday of the month. the monthly events are to educate our members on the latest HR news and provide them with recertification credits.

A legal topic is covered from 11:00am to 11:30am, and a general topic is held from 12:00pm to 1:00pm. Networking and lunch is from 11:30am to 12:00pm.


CONFERENCES

Annual Conference - This two-day conference focuses on growing the HR professional through education, networking, and management and leadership development. Normally held every April.

Legal Symposium - This one-day event focuses on legal and compliance topics that are helpful to HR professionals of all levels. Normally held every September.




Speaker Selection

North Texas SHRM believes that the attendance and decision-making authority of our audience provides a significant opportunity for speakers to increase their visibility and establish valuable contacts with a targeted audience.

North Texas SHRM does not offer an honorarium or pay fees for Speakers. The size of, and decision-making authority of the audience and membership, provide an outstanding opportunity for speakers to increase their visibility and establish contacts within the North Texas HR community.

Speaker proposals are reviewed by a committee of volunteers and are evaluated based on the following criteria (not inclusive):

    If your proposal is selected, you will be contacted to make arrangements to add your presentation to the Education Event Calendar. If your proposal is not selected for immediate addition to the calendar, it will be kept on file for possible future consideration.

    Speaker Guidelines

    HR professionals attend North Texas SHRM Education Events to further their knowledge in the human resource profession and to learn new skills relevant to their jobs. In the interest of our members, speakers should follow these guidelines.

    Speakers are permitted to:

    • Include their company name and contact information on the first and/or last page of their presentation slides or handouts.
    • Distribute business cards upon request after the session.
    • Reference books or articles that they have authored.

    Speakers are prohibited from:

    • Using the podium as a place for direct promotion of a speaker's product, service or monetary self-interest.
    • Soliciting attendee contact information is not allowed. Contact initiated by the attendee is completely acceptable.
    • Videotaping and audiotaping are prohibited unless approved in advance by the NTXSHRM Board at least 30 days prior to the presentation.
    • Speakers should not distribute price lists or discuss their professional fees and are prohibited from selling merchandise or products such as books, educational materials, and promotional items.
    • Speakers must refrain from making overt statements or pointed humor that disparages the rightful dignity and social equality of any individual group.

    The Annual Conference Speaker selection process will be open from August 1st to October 31st, 2025. Keep an eye on our social media accounts for more information.

    Certification Credits

    Topics that would be of great interest to our organization include Strategic Management, Workforce Planning and Employment, Human Resource Development, Employee and Labor Relations, Organizational Development, Leadership, Diversity, Workforce Readiness, Business Acumen, Legal, Risk Management, and Ethics.

    It is North Texas SHRM's intent to submit all presentations to the Human Resources Certification Institute (HRCI) and SHRM to achieve continuing education credits for the benefit of attendees.
