The 2022 Legal Symposium will have three speaker presentations in the morning, and we will provide a unique opportunity to discuss various legal topics in a round table format in the afternoon.

Sam Burke: What Legal Issues Will HR Professionals Face in 2025?

Learning Objectives: Attendees will learn how they should start preparing for 2025 HR legal issues today.  These issues include likely new laws and regulations that will be enacted affecting discrimination, harassment and retaliation in the workplace.    

Sam has established a reputation as one of the top litigators in the State of Texas. Sam’s clients have benefited from his expertise in complex matters involving employment law, real estate, business disputes and fiduciary disputes.  Sam is board certified in Civil Trial Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization and has been honored by his peers and legal publications throughout his legal career.

 

Caroline Harrison: What Legal Issues Do HR Professionals Face Today Regarding Remote/Hybrid Work and Some Solutions That Have Worked So Far?

Learning Objectives:  Attendees will learn what HR legal issues have arisen with the rise of remote and hybrid work, and some of the solutions that have worked and unfortunately, not worked.

Caroline Harrison is a founding Partner of Pham Harrison LLP. As an attorney Board Certified in Labor and Employment Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization, she represents employers in disputes with former employees, and guides them through the sometimes confusing arena of employment law. Her practice focuses on employment litigation and counseling.

 

Traci Clements: What Legal Issues Do HR Professionals Face in Benefits in 2022 – 2023?

Learning Objectives:  Attendees will learn what HR legal issues have arisen in the employee benefits realm so far in 2022, and what further issues will arise in 2023.   

Traci focuses her practice on general employment law matters as well as ERISA and employee benefits including executive compensation. Her past experience includes working in Human Resources and serving as in-house counsel, including General Counsel to a publicly traded company. This experience gives Traci a strong appreciation for our clients’ needs to balance business goals with legal compliance as she assists corporate leaders with solving daily workplace issues.
