Overturning Roe v. Wade: What Does HR Do Next? HR must react to the US Supreme Court's decision to overturn Roe v. Wade. Attendees will learn: 1. What did the Roe decision say; 2. What the new decision, Dobbs, say; 3. How Dobbs will affect HR: a. Effects on benefits; b. Effects on company policies c. Predicting and answering what questions employees will have for HR.

John is an HR lawyer who represents employers and HR professionals. He has been practicing for 25 years. He is both a counselor to HR professionals and a trial lawyer who defends them. He is the past president of DallasHR, Mid Cities HR and Collin County. He is presently serving as Vice President for Programs at NTXSHRM. His wife is a big-time federal prosecutor and both of their sons are Eagle Scouts.

A panel discussion with three successful HR professionals on their careers.

Mike Smolik, HR Director for Dennison Industries, has a proven track record of success in small to mid-size companies (multi-sites and States).  His strengths lie in benefits, employee relations, improving company culture and performance, retention, change management, process improvement, and HRIS.  

Tim Fogle is an experienced Human Resources Director at Wilson McLain, with a demonstrated history of working in the human resources industry. Tim is a Human Resources department startup specialist. Skilled in Negotiation, Coaching, Management, Purchasing Negotiation, and Performance Management. Strong human resources professional graduated from DENTON HIGH SCHOOL. He attended NCTC and UNT.

Gerson Gutierrez is an HR Business Partner for Higginbotham’s HR Services team in the North Texas Region. With over 15 years of experience managing a full spectrum of HR (employee relations, compensation, benefits, compliance, performance management, organizational culture, recruiting, leadership development), Gerson is an excellent resource for all clients. He is fluent in Spanish, and his strongest talent is the ability to effectively communicate and build relationships at all levels of an organization in order to achieve business objectives. He attributes his success both professionally and personally to the relationships he has built through networking. When he is not at work, you can find him at a local park polishing his soccer skills. Gerson holds a bachelor’s degree in HR from the University of North Texas and PHR and SHRM-CP certifications.
